What are the current GST rates in India?+
Since GST 2.0 (effective 22 September 2025) there are three main rates — 5%, 18% and 40% — plus a nil rate. The earlier 12% and 28% slabs were removed. Gold and jewellery are taxed at 3%.
How is GST split into CGST and SGST?+
For a sale within the same state, GST is split equally into CGST and SGST. On a ₹1,000 item at 18%, the GST is ₹180, shown as ₹90 CGST + ₹90 SGST. For a sale across states it becomes ₹180 IGST instead.
How do I remove GST from a price?+
Divide the GST-inclusive price by (1 + rate). A ₹1,180 price including 18% GST has a base of ₹1,180 × 100 ÷ 118 = ₹1,000 and GST of ₹180. Choose 'Inclusive (remove GST)' above to do this automatically.
