What this calculator shows

Enter a date of birth and the Age Calculator tells you exactly how old you are: the full count of years, months, and days between your birth date and the target date. By default the target date is today, so you get your current age the moment you open the tool.

Alongside the precise breakdown, it also gives you the same age expressed in single units — total months, total weeks, and total days lived — plus a countdown of days until your next birthday. You can set the target date to a past or future day to see how old you were, or will be, on any specific date.

How age is counted

The calculator uses a plain calendar difference. It first counts how many full years have passed since your birth date, then the number of whole months on top of that, and finally the leftover days. This is the same way people naturally say their age, for example "32 years, 4 months, and 9 days."

Because it works from real calendar dates, it automatically handles months of different lengths and leap years. A February birthday and a 31-day month are counted correctly, so the day total stays accurate no matter where the dates fall in the year.

Common uses

An exact age is handy for everyday situations: filling in forms, checking eligibility for things like school entry, a license, a pension, or an account, and confirming you meet an age requirement on a particular date rather than just "this year."

It is also useful for milestones and curiosities — counting down to a birthday, working out how many days old someone is for a celebration, or figuring out a pet's age in human time. Any time you need a precise number instead of a rough guess, the calculator gives it instantly.

A note on how "age" is counted

Not every culture counts age the same way. In some East-Asian reckoning systems, for instance, a person is considered one year old at birth and may gain a year at the new year rather than on their birthday, which can put their stated age one or two years ahead of the figure here.

This calculator uses the standard international method: your age is the completed time elapsed since birth, starting from zero on your birth date. If you need an age in a different system, treat this result as the baseline and adjust according to that tradition's rules.

How your age is calculated

Age = whole years, months and days from your birth date to the target date (default: today)

Whole years: the number of complete years between your birth date and the target date.

Months: the remaining complete months after the full years are counted.

Days: the leftover days after the years and months, adjusted for varying month lengths and leap years.
